Allergy season is the worst time of the year for me and all other allergy sufferers. During the allergy season your skin gets itchy, your eyes water, and it usually feels like every ounce of moisture is sucked out of your skin immediately.
It’s horrible and I hate it!
Looking your best is a CHORE during allergy season but here are some of my personal tips to looking your best on spite of feeling the worst
1. Stay hydrated!
It’s important to drink plenty of water so that your skin can maintain its moisture from the inside. Pollen and all the other allergens will still sap your moisture externally but staying hydrated internally should help you avoid wrinkly dry skin.
2. Avoid eyeshadow!
I know you may love to make your eyes pop but allergy season is NOT the season for it. I find that the eyeshadow will cause your skin to feel irritated and you may end up scratching it off.
3. Use waterproof eyeliner and mascara only!
Normally waterproof products are hard to remove but, in this case that’s exactly what you want. If your eyes tend to be watery and itchy use waterproof so it doesn’t smudge or run. Also, use allergy eye drops to reduce itchiness and redness
4. Avoid a full makeup application!
A full face may very well irritate your already irritated skin. I suggest using allergy season as a time to let your skin do LOTS of breathing. Typically for events I’ll go full glam but on a regular day I skip the foundation and I opt for moisturizer, a nice pair of glasses and a bold lip. Allergy season can also serve as a great time to work on your skin care routine and ensure that you’re taking proper care of it.
