Help! How do I prepare my look for my speaking engagements?

As the saying goes when you look good you feel good… When you show up knowing your visual presentation is on point you perform better. Your visual presentation is closely related to your confidence and if it is on point it will assist (alongside great content and oral presentation) with ensuring you have a stellar performance.

Here are 3 tips to preparing your look for a speaking engagement

1. Have a clear vision of the look you’re going for and how you want to be perceived
Indecision will make you feel confused, frustrated and uncomfortable in your clothes. This will undoubtedly have a negative impact on your performance. It’s ok if you don’t immediately know the exact makeup/ outfit choices that you need to pull your entire look off but start preparing by at least getting an idea of the look you want.

2. Ensure your ideal makeup look is natural and complements your skin tone and outfit
Heavy or improperly matched makeup can be distracting and will take all the attention off what you say and place it on how you look. Make sure your foundation application is natural and that your makeup as a whole enhances your best features.

3. Hire help
Some speakers, coaches and women of influence in general struggle in this area because they either believe their visual appearance doesn’t matter or they refuse to get help thinking its unnecessary. Truth is… it’s necessary. We live in a society where 1st impressions determine how people perceive you. You want to be perceived as your BEST! There is an expert that can answer any question you may ever have including on how to present yourself successfully. Don’t be afraid to hire one that you can learn from, feel comfortable and grow with.
